WHEN JOHNNY COMES MARCHING HOME: A HERO'S WELCOME
This is a charming scene created in tribute to my dad, a career military man. He lies in peace, in Arlington National Cemetery. In the living room, a "Welcome Home Johnny" banner. In the living room, patriotic decorations, and the family dog has gotten into a plate of cookies. There is a bedroom modelled after my mother's, including her Dandie Dinmont Terrier, and there is a little girl's room, my memory of my own, that has "a dollhouse in a dollhouse"--just a couple of inches square, and it matches the larger house. One of my favorite touches is the bathroom, all lime green porcelain, the style of the times; think 1960's. We take pride in our museum in that no two dollhouse bathrooms are alike! We have white, yellow, blue, black in the haunted house (skeletons in the triangular tub and shower!), and red porcelain bathroom in the firehouse! I also love the kitchen seen below: there is flag cake, patriotic plates, and even little stuffed baked potatos and jello salads!
